Life Stories: Ryan Nakao
Since I was young, I went to church with my Mom, knowing about God and having somewhat of a reverence for him. However, I had no clue about God’s love for me, nor living a real Christian life. It was sophomore year of high school, when I began struggling with a sense of meaningless to life and a lack of purpose. It seemed my current purpose, the idea of getting good grades in order to get a good job, and to make money and have a family and die was ultimately meaningless.
With what I would consider miraculous timing, during that sophomore year of high school, I was invited to a youth service at Grace Bible where the message pierced right through my heart and mind. I realized that night that I needed to get right with God. I started going to church regularly and my relationship with God began to grow. I have moved from a life of meaninglessness to purpose, from selfishness to selflessness, learning how to love as Christ loved me. I now have a drive and tenacity to live life knowing that I am a son of God, loved, accepted, and called for greatness. One of my favorite things now is speaking life and purpose into a generation of young people who are hungry for their true calling in life.
